Head Coach Paul Wellens reviews the Saints 26-24 victory over Castleford Tigers in Round 27 of the Betfred Super League 2025.
For Wellens, the main thing was just getting the win after a few tough weeks without one — and with the Play-Offs only a week away, it came at the right time.
He was happy with how the new lads stepped up too — Shane Wright, Jake Davies, and Leon Cowen (in only his second outing) all put in strong shifts in a much-changed Saints side.
Afterwards, Wellens made it clear the team should be frustrated with their last ten minutes, reminding them that switching off against any side can cost you — as the Tigers showed late on.
Now, with the Eliminator Play-Off against Leeds Rhinos confirmed, Wellens knows exactly what kind of battle is coming, and that it’ll be the little moments that make all the difference.
