Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to Saints TV at the Betfred Super League 2025 Play-Offs launch at Elland Road.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Saints are now playing knockout rugby league, with no second chances, and the Head Coach says it feels almost like the start of a new competition.
Saturday’s game against Leeds will be the fifth meeting between the Saints and the Rhinos in 2025, and Wellens knows to expect an intense contest at Headingley.
Wellens discussed the latest news surrounding his squad, stating that his players feel confident they can deliver in the big games, but he wants them to lead by their actions on Saturday night.
Kyle Feldt will be in contention for the match after suffering back spasms in last week against Castleford, which forced him off the field. Jake Wingfield could be pushing for a return following injury, too.
With players to step back in after rotating the squad, the Saints boss believes it will have done some of our key men the world of good.
The Play-Off launch also doubled up as the Dream Team event, with Morgan Knowles picking up his shirt. Wellens said his team’s reaction to Morgan’s inclusion speaks volumes for the outstanding season the loose forward has had.
In a rallying call to the Saints faithful, Paul first thanked supporters for their wonderful backing so far this season, and urged them to keep it coming – especially this Saturday over in Leeds.
