Aaron Smith admits he is looking forward to the challenge of filling James Roby’s shoes on Friday as Saints face Huddersfield Giants at Emerald Headingley Stadium (6pm).
Smith, who got over for a try in last week’s win over Hull KR, will likely start at hooker tomorrow with captain Roby out with a head knock.
And Smith insists he is eager to get his chance from the start and admits if he can do half the job Roby does, he can’t go far wrong.
The 23-year-old has been a consistent member of the first team squad over the past few seasons and has often impressed in Roby’s absence and Smith reveals he is enjoying getting minutes under his belt.
Smith talks about playing under the new rules and the challenge of Huddersfield in the full interview on Saints TV.
