It was the fourth meeting of the season between two of the northern hemisphere’s best women’s rugby league teams. Lindsay Anfield and her Valks were looking to get a bit of revenge after losing out in the Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Final for a third successive season, as well as home and away league losses to the Red V.
Craig Richards and Derek Hardman’s Saints were aiming to stop the reigning WSL champions to book their place in back-to-back Grand Finals, and motivated to go one better by winning the title in the final game of the year.
