Fresh off the back of booking their place in a sixth consecutive Challenge Cup Final, and a fourth trip to Wembley in a row, the Saints Women were looking to make a positive start to the league campaign and build momentum for the big game at the national stadium in two weeks.
The Saints went to Barrow in strong form, with a four-match winning run in the Cup competition following Group Stage wins over Huddersfield and Catalans, followed by knockout wins over Barrow and Leeds in the quarter and semi-final stages respectively.
