The Saints Women were determined to overcome the sting of their underwhelming performance at the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final at Wembley a month prior when they made the short trip across Billinge Hill to face Wigan.
A further drive to get the result over our nearest and dearest rivals was to get back to winning ways after the Saints suffered their first league loss of the year in Round 4 at home against Leeds Rhinos last time out.
Wigan, on home turf, were unbeaten across all competitions, but knew that the Red V were resilient and looking for a small slice of revenge.
It was a game not to be missed, as two of the very best Women’s Rugby League teams collided once more.
