St.Helens Head Coach Paul Rowley spoke to the press following our 36-4 Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter Final victory over Catalans Dragons.
Rowley was very pleased with both the result and the standards his side maintained. Following the emotional high of the Good Friday comeback last week, the Saints boss wanted his players to reset and deliver again in a different atmosphere. With a strong start to take control of the game, the Red V showed resilience after losing two men to injury to keep Catalans at bay.
The win sadly came at a cost, as Jake Wingfield and Lewis Murphy both needed help to come off the field in the first half. Jake suffered what looks to be a knee issue, whilst Murphy looked to have dislocated his elbow. While the extent of the damage is still to be confirmed, Rowley highlighted the support around the Club for both.
Although a late conceded try caused some frustration, the overall display was very good, with youngsters getting valuable experience, and older heads showing great character. The return of Alex Walmsley was a welcome sight too, allowing the pack to rotate after a number of tough weeks down on numbers.
