The Saints beat the Valks on four occasions in 2025, including in the Challenge Cup and Super League semi-finals. So on their own turf, the new coach and former Saint, Leon Pryce, would be out to make his mark.
St.Helens headed into this round one week removed from the big trip up to Cumbria to beat Barrow Raiders Ladies 6-42, with the game at Wembley to come in the Challenge Cup Final seven days after this clash with York. So there was the added tension of wanting to get a result and perform well ahead of the big game in London next week.
