Watch back the highlights of our Under 18s’ first away match of the season at Laund Hill against Huddersfield Giants.
The Saints were looking to bounce back after a poor result against Warrington Wolves in the season opener, and our youngsters went to Huddersfield and put up a better contest.
The hosts got off to a good start, striking twice but before the half time break Joel Kilgannon got the Red V on the scoreboard to trail 8-4.
Into the second half, Derek Traynor’s Academy Saints briefly led with Jack Campbell’s try but Giants nudged themselves back in front. By the hour mark the lead swung our way once again with Kian McGann scoring off a terrific dummy.
In the closing minutes though, Huddersfield struck twice to get a 26-16 victory. Lessons to be learned with late game management for our Under 18s, who take on rivals Wigan Warriors next up.
