The top of the table clash between Saints and Wigan would determine the winner of the 2025 Women’s League Leaders’ Shield following Warrington Wolves Women’s withdrawal from the competition.
Wigan were awarded a 48-0 victory in advance of the final regular season fixtures (Round 14), setting up the trophy showdown in Round 13.
Craig Richards and Derek Hardman’s Saints side went into The Derby unbeaten in the league, whilst Wigan were just behind in second place by a point.
